Contract Conservation Work - Brose Partington

During this contracted work experience at The Alexander Hotel, located in downtown Indianapolis, I was tasked with cleaning the 99 light fixtures at the Plat 99 lounge located within the hotel. This process involved removing the light fixtures, cleaning them, and then replacing them. I additionally assisted in cleaning a Nick Cave “Soundsuit” as well as Paul Villinski’s “Anthem,” which both reside within the hotel’s lobby.

New Century Curatorial Fellow - Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site

I currently work for the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site as the Curatorial Fellow. My primary responsibility was the planning and production of an exhibit for the rotating exhibit space. I gained key skills in collections care and management, working hands on with the artifacts throughout the institution and well as become proficient with using the database. The project has made me a more confident museum professional and teammate.

Exhibits & Collections Intern - Conner Prairie

This internship was focused around gathering experiences from a variety of realms throughout the exhibits and collections departments of Conner Prairie. My main project was a book rehousing project, where the books within the collection needed storage boxes constructed for safe housing. This focused on preventive conservation, a highly important aspect of collection care and management. I have gained knowledge regarding collections upkeep, inventory, processing, paperwork, database management, and much more.

Programs Production Crew - Conner Prairie

​While working on the production crew, I gained experiences in many realms throughout the Conner Prairie museum. I worked events (set up, staffed, and tore down), helped on grounds, and did odd jobs throughout. It has made me proficient in communication, efficiency, and built up many of my hands-on skills.

Jun. 2020 - Present

Volunteer- Indiana Medical History Museum

As a volunteer at the Indiana Medical History Museum, I have been working on the glass plate negative project. This project involves cleaning, rehousing, and documenting the glass slides of patient autopsies. It is valuable for the institution to preserve these pieces of history to ensure that this era of medicine isn’t lost to neglect and deterioration. My volunteer work has made me proficient in cleaning, cataloguing, and rehousing glass plate negatives.

April 2018 & April 2019

Volunteer- Ziibiwing Center of Anishinabe Culture and Lifeways

This community collaboration project was put together by Dr. Holly Cusack-McVeigh of IUPUI. We collaborated with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan at their local tribal museum. I assisted in the cleaning of their permanent exhibits as well as the repair of their birch bark wigwam. I also gained experience in helping the museum digitize a portion of its paper archives. I additionally assisted with the cleaning of the glass display cases, as well as helped with the removal of pests from a permanent exhibit.

Volunteer Archaeological Field Work - University of Indianapolis

"2016 Grave in the Road Archaeology and Road Work Project" - I assisted Dr. Christopher Schmidt in the removal, analysis, and repatriation of remains.

Volunteer Bio-Archaeology Lab Assistant - University of Indianapolis

It was my primary responsibility to assist in the reconstruction of biological remains and help with general lab duties as needed.

I obtained my Master's degree in Museum Studies. I focused on collections care and management as well as exhibit planning and design with a specific focus on Indigenous cultural heritage.

I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology with a minor in Geography and a certificate in Museum Studies. I had a focus in archaeology and community collaboration.
